Vision : To develop the Malaysian Medical Device manufacturing industry into the key economic sector and to increase our exports.

Mission : To provide a platform and assistance to local Malaysian Medical Device manufacturers to voice out their concerns and to improve our manufacturing process.

The Persatuan Perkilangan Peranti Perubatan (PERANTIM) – or also known as Malaysia Medical Devices Manufacturers Association is an association which was officially incorporated in November 2018 for the purpose of developing and grooming Malaysia Medical Devices Industry.

The association was successfully launched on the 25th of February 2019 by YB Dr Ong Kian Ming, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in the presence of Pn. Sharimahton Mat Saleh, Deputy CEO of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). The launching was done in conjunction with a seminar co-organized by MATRADE and PERANTIM titled “Global Prospects and Regulatory Updates for the Medical Devices Industry”.

Malaysia exports roughly 50 – 60% of the world demand for Medical Gloves and taking cue on Malaysia’s dominance and strength in this sector, PERANTIM intends to leverage on this strong presence by introducing local manufacturers that are able to comply to USFDA/CE Mark requirements. PERANTIM believes that in order to be able to emulate the success seen in Medical Gloves, PERANTIM will need to work hand in hand with its industry players, as well as government agencies.

As of the moment, PERANTIM and its committee members are working closely (and is sitting on some of the working committees) with several ministries, government departments and agencies such as :

– Ministry of International Trade & Industry
– Ministry of Entrepreneurial Department
– Standards Malaysia
– Medical Device Authority Malaysia
– Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation
– Malaysia Industrial Development Authority

Moving forward, we are constantly on the lookout for new members, new ideas and identifying ways in which we can work with our stakeholders to further develop and modernize the Medical Device Manufacturing Industry in Malaysia.
